GLENBURN, N.D.— SRT recently visited the upgraded Glenburn Panther Playground and presented a ceremonial check for $5,000 to the Glenburn Booster Club. The donation, made earlier this year, contributed to a nearly $100,000 project to replace old equipment and basketball hoops at Glenburn Public School’s Panther Playground.

The Glenburn Boosters led a group fundraising effort, with SRT among 57 community donors who supported the project. Volunteers tore down the old playground structures and hoops, Farden Construction installed the hoops at no cost, and Sign D’Zyn donated the donor sign. Other donors include a high school student who donated his lawn mowing earnings, as well as the proceeds from a coin drive competition among all Glenburn students.

Glenburn Elementary Principal Emilie Walker said, “The gift of the donations, along with the time, energy, and support to bring this project to fruition, has done so much more than build a physical play space. It sends a message of care, community, and possibility. I feel fortunate to see the creativity, playfulness, and enjoyment that happens on the playground.”

The previous equipment at the Panther Playground was estimated to be 35 years old, and the new equipment is expected to last 20 years. Glenburn Boosters would like to eventually replace the pea gravel surfacing and add to the playground.

“Generations of students will attend school here and play on this playground for years to come. People of all ages will use the basketball courts,” said SRT Board President Stanley Vangsness about the donation. “SRT is proud to support long-term vitality in our communities.”

The Glenburn Booster Club consists of dedicated volunteers who work to strengthen the school community through fundraising, organizing activities, and providing support to help students succeed. The playground is one example of the club’s initiatives to help students thrive.
