SRT Communications Combination Technicians Receive Minot Chamber EDC Eagle Award

News_TACSeagleaward640x320

SRT Communications Combination Technicians Terry Aannerud and Cameron Schilken received Minot Chamber EDC‘s Eagle Award this past month. The Eagle Award recognizes excellence in customer service and the recipients must be nominated to receive this award.

Terry and Cameron were nominated by an SRT customer who said, “I had a new internet line dug in, and these two individuals came yesterday to get it into my house. They were exceptional people who took their time so as not to make a mess and yet got the job done in no time. They helped me set up several devices in my home through the internet. They worked so well together, and they certainly complimented each other. I was especially pleased to not hear any cuss words and the way they spoke to each other was so nice to hear. They were so patient with each other and me when we were trying to get things set up. I appreciate all that they did for me yesterday and I think they need to be recognized for their efforts in helping me and others in the community. We all benefitted from having Cameron and Terry come into our homes and having them hook this stuff up. Thanks so much!”

Congratulations Terry and Cameron for this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for taking great care of our customers!

SRT Takes Pride in Being a Smart Rural Community Provider

Proud to be SRC Provider_Broadband

SRT Communications is proud to be named a Smart Rural Community (SRC) provider by NTCA—The Rural Broadband Association. Smart Rural Communities promote innovative economic development, effective education, efficient energy distribution and use, state-of-the-art health care, and other important services for Rural America.

Rural broadband allows communities of all sizes to flourish. SRT, a broadband internet provider serving north-central North Dakota, plays an integral role in building a brighter future for small-town America.

To earn Smart Rural Community provider designation, SRT affirmed that it offers 25/3 Mbps broadband to at least 50% of its service area; SRT offers that speed to 76%. SRC designation also means that SRT has a broadband subscription rate of at least 50% and is committed to program principles of collaboration and innovation. SRT celebrates being a Smart Rural Community provider as part of a national network of similarly innovative communities.

“It is imperative that our rural communities have access to high-speed internet. SRT broadband brings educational and economic opportunities to rural residents, in the places where they love to live,” said Kristi Miller, SRT Board President.

“Smart Rural Community providers recognize the importance of rural connectivity. Our farmers, ranchers, business owners, families, students – everyone deserves access to broadband,” said Cassidy Hjelmstad, SRT CEO/General Manager. “That’s why it is SRT’s mission as a broadband provider and a cooperative to ensure that north-central North Dakota can compete with even the most connected communities across the country.”

NTCA—The Rural Broadband Association is the premier association representing nearly 850 independent, community-based telecommunications companies that are leading innovation in rural and small-town America. NTCA members are leading the technological evolution for rural consumers, delivering robust and high-quality services over future-proof networks that make rural communities vibrant places in which to live and do business.

SRT Communications, headquartered in Minot, North Dakota, is the state’s largest telecommunications cooperative. Established in 1951, SRT employs nearly 190 people and serves roughly 8,000 square miles and 24,000 customers across north central North Dakota. SRT earned the distinction as a Certified Gig-Capable Provider in 2017. Services include high-speed internet, phone, and security/surveillance systems for home and business. SRT congratulates Minot Parks on their official SCHEELS Complex at South Hill ribbon cutting today. We joined other sponsors and community members for the unveiling of the complex, featuring new amenities that players and spectators will enjoy for years.

SRT is proud to sponsor high-speed internet services to the impressive sports facility – providing equipment, installation, and maintenance of Gig x Gig fiber and free public access WiFi.

The new complex boasts two turf fields, three spacious offices, a press box with a sound system and excellent view of the games, locker rooms with bathrooms for both home teams, an in-house concession stand, and state-of-the-art field lighting. “This is the nicest facility in the state now; it’s the best setup anywhere,” said Thor Nelson, Minot Girls Fastpitch Board President and champion of this project.

New netting hangs over the bleachers for spectator safety, a feature that is “the best thing ever for fans sitting here,” added Nelson.

Those fans can also use free WiFi anywhere onsite, whether inside the building, out in the stands, or cheering field-side. High-speed internet allows the press box to live-stream games, report scores to media, and record game film for review and coaching.

“This facility changes the landscape for girls softball in Minot. Kids want to play in nice facilities and when they see this complex, they want to play here,” said Nelson. “It also attracts more teams to visit and play here. Our tournaments sell out every year now. And this is all thanks to our sponsors like SRT.”
