News_MDNbestinternet640x320
Once Again, Minot Daily News Readers Have Spoken.

We are always honored to win in the Minot Daily News “Best of the Best” Readers’ Choice Awards, and this year is no exception. 2023 marks a 19-year streak of Minot Daily News readers voting SRT as Best Internet Provider!

Here’s how it works. The “Best of the Best” contest allows readers to nominate various types of businesses within the region. After the nomination period, there is a voting round. Readers may vote online once per day for their favorite business within the specific categories. Once voting has closed and the votes have been counted, one winner and two finalists are announced for each category.

SRT is grateful to Minot Daily readers for their votes of confidence. We value every opportunity to serve our customers and look forward to connecting in 2024. Thank you all!

Video Surveillance and Security Safeguards Crops and Livestock

News_Agshow640x320

Be there for them when they need you, no matter where you are. Video surveillance and security can safeguard crops and livestock.

Farm and ranch responsibilities go beyond business, especially for the vast majority in North Dakota that are family-owned. Whether you are growing crops or raising livestock, you are invested in caring for the life on your land. That includes keeping fields, animals, and family safe in addition to running daily operations.

A video security and surveillance system will help you do both.

First, you can make sure everyone and everything is okay. North Dakota farms and ranches average nearly 1500 acres, and can’t you be everywhere at once. This is when video security and surveillance can be your eyes around-the-clock to see that livestock is secure, water systems are working, and buildings are heated. For example, temperature and water sensors let you monitor systems remotely to detect and fix problems early, such as a broken furnace. The sensor sends an alert via phone or other smart device so you can act fast and arrange for repairs, from across your property or across the country.

Second, you can discourage criminal activity on your property. Farm or ranch theft can be costly, measured in loss of both assets and production. Crime happens when nobody is watching, and the remote, isolated nature of farm and ranch land can provide opportunity for theft or vandalism. Installing a security system equipped with video cameras lets trespassers know they are being watched and protects fuel tanks, machinery, outbuildings, and even livestock. These systems also offer remotely accessible tools such as door and window sensors, glass break detectors, smart light controls, and door auto-locks. Any disturbance triggers a live security response with 24/7 support.

Every farm and ranch, just like every family, is unique, which is why SRT’s security and surveillance specialists design customized systems for each.

Just as you depend on your farm or ranch for your livelihood, the crops and animals you raise depend on you to grow and thrive. You can be there for them 24/7 with a video security and surveillance system.

SRT Communications Combination Technicians Receive Minot Chamber EDC Eagle Award

News_TACSeagleaward640x320

SRT Communications Combination Technicians Terry Aannerud and Cameron Schilken received Minot Chamber EDC‘s Eagle Award this past month. The Eagle Award recognizes excellence in customer service and the recipients must be nominated to receive this award.

Terry and Cameron were nominated by an SRT customer who said, “I had a new internet line dug in, and these two individuals came yesterday to get it into my house. They were exceptional people who took their time so as not to make a mess and yet got the job done in no time. They helped me set up several devices in my home through the internet. They worked so well together, and they certainly complimented each other. I was especially pleased to not hear any cuss words and the way they spoke to each other was so nice to hear. They were so patient with each other and me when we were trying to get things set up. I appreciate all that they did for me yesterday and I think they need to be recognized for their efforts in helping me and others in the community. We all benefitted from having Cameron and Terry come into our homes and having them hook this stuff up. Thanks so much!”

Congratulations Terry and Cameron for this well-deserved recognition, and thank you for taking great care of our customers!

SRT Takes Pride in Being a Smart Rural Community Provider

Proud to be SRC Provider_Broadband

SRT Communications is proud to be named a Smart Rural Community (SRC) provider by NTCA—The Rural Broadband Association. Smart Rural Communities promote innovative economic development, effective education, efficient energy distribution and use, state-of-the-art health care, and other important services for Rural America.

Rural broadband allows communities of all sizes to flourish. SRT, a broadband internet provider serving north-central North Dakota, plays an integral role in building a brighter future for small-town America.

To earn Smart Rural Community provider designation, SRT affirmed that it offers 25/3 Mbps broadband to at least 50% of its service area; SRT offers that speed to 76%. SRC designation also means that SRT has a broadband subscription rate of at least 50% and is committed to program principles of collaboration and innovation. SRT celebrates being a Smart Rural Community provider as part of a national network of similarly innovative communities.

“It is imperative that our rural communities have access to high-speed internet. SRT broadband brings educational and economic opportunities to rural residents, in the places where they love to live,” said Kristi Miller, SRT Board President.

“Smart Rural Community providers recognize the importance of rural connectivity. Our farmers, ranchers, business owners, families, students – everyone deserves access to broadband,” said Cassidy Hjelmstad, SRT CEO/General Manager. “That’s why it is SRT’s mission as a broadband provider and a cooperative to ensure that north-central North Dakota can compete with even the most connected communities across the country.”

NTCA—The Rural Broadband Association is the premier association representing nearly 850 independent, community-based telecommunications companies that are leading innovation in rural and small-town America. NTCA members are leading the technological evolution for rural consumers, delivering robust and high-quality services over future-proof networks that make rural communities vibrant places in which to live and do business.

SRT Communications, headquartered in Minot, North Dakota, is the state’s largest telecommunications cooperative. Established in 1951, SRT employs nearly 190 people and serves roughly 8,000 square miles and 24,000 customers across north central North Dakota. SRT earned the distinction as a Certified Gig-Capable Provider in 2017. Services include high-speed internet, phone, and security/surveillance systems for home and business.
